A therapist who understands what high-functioning can cost.

I bring both professional training and lived experience of high-pressure environments to my work. That combination shapes how I understand the people I work with.

Why I do this work

My name is Jackie Boot. I’m an MSc-qualified, UKCP-registered Person-Centred and Experiential Psychotherapist with several years of clinical experience working with adults in Nottingham and online across the UK.

Before training as a therapist, I spent years working in corporate and pharmaceutical environments. I understand the particular kind of exhaustion that build when you’re expected - and expect yourself - to keep performing at a high level, regardless of what’s happening beneath the surface.

That background isn’t incidental to my work. It shapes how I understand the people I sit with - the pride and cost of being competent, the difficulty of asking for help, the particular loneliness of struggling in a life that, to others, looks like it’s going well.

I work with adults navigating the point where their strategies stop being enough - where patterns from earlier in life begin to make themselves known, often through relationships, identity, or a quiet but persistent sense that something isn’t right.

I work reflectively, supported by regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development. I offer a space that is attentive, inclusive, and genuinely responsive to your experience - not a template.
